Moser Baer Entertainment has released actor Sivakumar’s recitation of a 100 couplets from the epic “Kamba Ramayanam” as a home video in the DVD format, costing Rs 99. The DVD, launched by the actor’s sons Suriya and Karthi is a recorded version of the actor’s narration spanning two hours at the Thiruppur Tihndal Vellalar College recently, in front of over 5,000 participants.

An epic by the Kambar, the Ramayana is known for its remarkable creativity and striking narrative, making it an interesting read for litterateurs. Actor Sivakumar, whose love for the Kamba Ramayana is legendary, had earlier published his book “Kamban En Kadhalan”.

The actor’s recent narration of the Ramayana at the college was noted for his understanding of the topic, revealed by his ability to give real life examples to incidents in the epic, covering it completely. The actor, in fact, wowed his audience by not taking a minute’s break while reciting it, nor looking at any paper for reference. It was also telecast on TV on April 14.

Yet, Moser Baer approached him with the intention of releasing his speech as a home video, considering its interest levels among the Tamilians and the actor readily agreed. The DVDs will be available in all leading stores soon.
