Tell us about your experience working in `Azhagiya Theeye’?
Radha Mohan narrated a subject to me. I liked it and Prakashraj who produced the film too felt I was apt. I gave my best for the film. For the first projection had Cheran, Susi Ganesan and many from filmdom. Cheran and Susi immediately congratulated me. This was a relief. Next was the tour of Tamilnadu to promote the film. The theatre response gave me the confidence that I could survive in filmdom. The success has given all of us who worked in `Azhagiya Theeye’an address and identity.
You're initial days?I applied to an advertisement from Madras Talkies. I was surprised when I was asked to come to Chennai. Susi Ganesan selected me after I was screen tested. During my Five Star days I struggled a lot. I traveled by bus and often walked all the way to producer’s office to give my stills. Though the film had five of us I was lucky to get the pat for good acting. This led me to sign two films Raghasiymay and Kathal Dot Com and unfortunately both bombed. Again I was back to square one till `Azhagiya Theeye’ happened.
You're future projects? I have signed a film for Cheran’s home production, which is to be directed by Vijay Milton (cameraman). A film for Gautham Menon’s associate Krishna who is turning director and also a film with the `Azhagiya Theeye’ team again. What kind of roles are you looking forward to?I think I should continue to play the homely soft roles for some time. This image has come about and I should build it up slowly. Later on only should I take up action. Only soft roles for now. Even comic hero roles too would do well.
Who is your girl friend?(Laughs) I never had anyone. Even in college (co-ed) I am friendly with girls but no one fell in love with me nor did I fall in love with anyone. I think the thought never crossed my mind. After `Azhagiya Theeye’ my mind is full of thoughts as to how to succeed in films.
