I want to do meaningful films: Prasanna

He is a busy actor in Kollywood today.

But two years ago when he made his debut in Manirathnam-produced Five Star not many gave him much of a chance. His subsequent films too flopped and he almost faded away.

But he has re-emerged strongly with Prakash Raj''s Azhagiya Theeyae.

Prassanna, the actor, is now acting in Prakash Raj''s next, Kanda Naal Muthal, directed by a debutant Priya, an apprentice of Manirathinam and Kasthoori Maan by noted Malayalam director Lohitha Das.

Taking off time from his busy schedule, Prasanna spoke on his future aspirations and goals.

The actor owing his success to Manirathinam and Susi Ganesan, says, �I will do meaningful movies and establish myself as an actor who can be trusted by the producers and the directors.

Excerpts of an interview with Prasanna:

What do you think of Azhagiya Theeyae's success?

I was at the crossroads before Azhagiya Theeyae. My future in filmdom was a question mark then. However, thanks to its success, I am in the thick of things again. I can now proudly claim to have found a career for myself in cinema. It was a different film. It was clean entertainer. I am proud that I did the film.

On your roles in Kanda Naal Muthal and Kasthoori Maan

I should thank Prakash Raj for giving me an offer to act in another movie (Kanda Naal Muthal) of his. Interestingly a lady, Priya, directs it. Initially I had doubts on her calibre. However after a couple of days shoot, I am confident of her abilities and skill. An hardworking and dedictaed director is Priya.

In Kasthoori Maan, I work with a team of dedicated men like Lohitha Dass and Ilayaraja besides Meera Jasmine, who has won the National Award for the best actress this year. Lohitha Dass is man known to extract the best out of an actor and I have no worry in acting in his movie.

What are your future aspirations?

I have no big ambitions. I want to establish myself in the industry and win the confidence of my producers and directors.

How's it to act alongside actresses like Laila and Meera Jasmine?

I have seen movies starring Laila including Dheena during my college days. I am thrilled to act alongside her now. A co-operative actress with bundle of energy is Laila.

I have great regard for Meera Jasmine, who has proved herself as a talented actress.

Any plans to do action roles in future?

I don't think I have either the body mass or the audience mass to take up action roles. I want to do good quality meaningful films in the coming years.
