Debutant director Pannerselvam, a former associate of filmmaker Lingusamy, has tried his hands at an action-packed venture on juvenile criminals in his maiden venture. A newcomer Ganesh Raghavendra makes his foray to film music with ‘Renigunta’ which has a right mix of melodious and peppy numbers that is splendid and spicy too.
Adding strength to the album are catchy lyrics by Na Muthukumar, Yugabharathi and Piraisoodan. The league of acclaimed singers like Harish Raghavendra, Bombay Jayashree, Vijay Yesudas and Shreya Ghosal has rendered voices in the album.

The song penned by Yugabharathi has been crooned by Harish Raghavendra. The man with mellifluous voice has rendered a melody quite typical to him. Excellent orchestration combined with good vocals is the USP of the song. A good beginning to the album.

The song penned by Na Muthukumar is rendered by Silambarasan, a man of multi-faceted talent. It’s a song with thunderous beats and racy rhythms. Silambarasan renders it in a youthful way bubbling with enthusiasm. Sure to find favour with youngsters.

This song by Na Muthukumar, is rendered by Shreya Ghoshal. The voice that has been part of successful songs before has added one more in her kitty with this number. With mild instrumentation and stunning flow of rhythms, the number is pleasant to listen to. The lyrics are simple and nice to sing along.

This Yugabharathi's song has been sung by the queen of Carnatic music Bombay Jayashri. Hence, the song has strong classical backing. Jayashri has sung with ease and elegance. Besides, it has also got a pleasant touch with commendable lyrics of Yugabharathi.

This number by Piraisoodan, is supposedly an item number. Ranjitha has briskly sung the number with good interludes. The song is fast and racy.

The song has the tune of previous song “Kanden Kanmaniyae” but with different lyrics. Vijay Yesudas has sung with soft touch. About a youth in despair, the number has everything to stick to our heart. Na Muthukumar has penned the lyrics well.
On the whole, ‘Renigunta’ has announced the arrival of a talented music composer. Ganesh Raghavendra has given an album that has songs which are trendy, contemporary and at the same time classic. |
