180 - Break the rules
IndiaGlitz  [Thursday, June 23, 2011]

Jayendra, a popular ad film maker, is all set to make his Kollywood debut with 'Nootrenbadhu'. The movie stars Siddharth, Priya Anand and Nithya Menon in lead roles. Jayendra has brought with him popular Malayalam composer Sharreth, who is a name to reckon with in Malluwood. Madak Korgy and Vivekah have penned the lyrics.

The songs are new, refreshing and nice to listen to. Sharreth has ensured that he delivers with different sound, apparently to reach the target audience - the youngsters. Jayendra seems to have extracted what he wanted to from the music composer. The lyrics too are simple and catchy. A blend of new and seasoned singers gives solidity to the songs.

1. Rules Kidaiyadhu - Listen here

Singer: Thippu

Thippu is one of the rare singers who blend melody with energy. It is a brisk, peppy number with a catchy interlude rendered in style. Sharreth makes a bright beginning with this song which is dynamic and nice to listen to.

2. AJ - Listen here

Singers: Ramya S Kapadia

A soft and simple song with smooth lyrics which has rookie Ramya S Kapadia singing it to near perfection. With a catchy piano accompanying the vocals, the songs sweeps your heart from the word go. The Spanish verses interspersed with Tamil lyrics make this a lovable romantic number. With catchy visuals, the number is sure to make a mark with the music-lovers.

3. Sandhikka Kangalil Inbangal - Listen here

Singers: Chithra, S Sowmya and Unni Menon

When an awesome trio comes together for a song, what else but for perfection one would expect. With seasoned campaigners like Chithra, S Sowmya and Unni Menon on the job, the songs opens with lots of hype and it does live up to it. Laced with Classical background, the number is pleasant and each singer giving their best adds polish to the tune.

4. Nyayam Thana - Listen here

Singer: Sharreth

The music composer turns singer here. Besides composing a catchy tune, Sharreth has sung the song himself. Influenced by Arabian music, the song has nice lift as it begins with good harmony and instrumentation. He has chosen to go different from conventional tunes and breaks all rules in the song. Expect the unexpected here.

5. Radhe Radhe - Listen here

Singers: Ramya S Kapadia and Ravishankar A straightforward and simple duet. The lyrics add strength to the song that has everything to make it a chartbuster. Sharreth gives more thrust on vocals than the instrumental array. It is indeed a simple but a short song sure to leave an impact.

6. Nee Korinaal - Listen here

Singers: Karthik and Swetha Moha One more appealing number in the album. It is more a blend of 1980s Ilayaraja's musical genius with state-of-the-art music of contemporary day. Melodious and at the same time peppy, the song will stick to your hearts instantly. Watch out for good use of violin by Sharreth.

7. Siru Siru Kanavugal - Listen here

Singers: Vidya Shankar, Master Aswath, P Ajith, and Master Sharath Brisk song with a group coming together to sing. But the instrumentation is heavy and the vocals get lost at places. It breaks from all moulds and the song could find a place in ipods of youngsters.

All said, Sharreth has given a different album with a different sound. 'Nottrenbadhu' is sure to appease the appetite of youngsters. Three cheers to Jayendra and Sharreth.
