Sachein - A Rocker
IndiaGlitz  [Friday, April 08, 2005]

Vijay and music director Devi Sri Prasad seem to share a good rapport between them. In Tirupachi, Vijay's previous release, he had strummed in a couple of good numbers.

And in Vijay's Sachien, Devi Sri Prasad has proved that he likes fast-paced rhythm songs that the modern-day youngsters like very much.

Pa Vijay, Na Muthukumar, Pazhani Bharathy, Kapilan and Ilango have written the five songs in the album.

1) Va Va Va En Thalaiva (Shankar Mahadevan)

A perfect start to the album. Devi Sri Prasad seems to have  hit the very first ball over the fence for a maximum. This hip-hop number has an alluring peppy beat and a mix of Punjabi Bhangra. For Shankar Mahadevan it is almost the equivalent of a stroll in the park.He waltzes across the octaves with the ease of a mountain cat in a jungle.

2) Kanmoodi Thirakkumbodhu (Devi Sri Prasad)

Devi Sri Prasad has himself rendered this soft melodious number. A welcome relief in a Vijay's movie which is occupied by a host of fast paced racy number these days. Though seems to be a rehash of a popular track from Minnale, thanks to the sheer comfort of the singer, the number passes muster.

3) Gundu Manga Thoppukkulle (Jassie Gift, Malathi)

When Jassie Gift and Malathi combine, the song can be of only one type ---raucous and rollicking. Its sure as the two peppy singers belt out all they have in. The beats being heavy and the tune folksy, you almost feel like getting up and dancing. The lead singers energy is simply amazing.

4) Dai Dai Dai Kattikkoda (Karthik, Sunitha Sarathy)

Yet another fast number but a romantic one in the album. Sunitha Sarathy walks away with all the applause for coming up with a commendable Western-style rendering. Karthik, on the other hand, is what he is:efficient and enthralling. Unfortunately very ordinary lyrics lets the song down.

5) Vaadi Vaadi (Vijay)

Vijay has crooned a song after along time. Vaadi Vaadi Kai Padatha CD is a perfect gaana number. This fast rhythmic song has a local flavor. Vijay has made it an habit to accommodate a gaana number in every film of his and so this song.Vijay's rendering is sure to add charm to the album.

On the whole,the album rocks.
