Naan Avanillai - Sure to rock music-buffs
IndiaGlitz  [Wednesday, April 11, 2007]

Vijay Anthony is man of few words. He lets his music do all the talking. Shot to fame with his musical score in Dishoom, Vijay Anthony has carved a niche for himself among the contemporary music composers.

Naan Avanillai is a catchy album oozing with energy and is vibrant to listen to.

The young music composer has opted for right voices and the songs are quite different from each other giving a refreshing feel for the listeners.

Vijay Anthony choice of instruments needs a special mention. It doesn't fail to mesmerize the listeners. A remix of yesteryear song Radha Kadhal Varadha is sure to top the charts.

Keeping his faith in a host of young amateur singer, Vijay Anthony has brought to light several deserving talents through the album.

Starring Jeevan, Sneha, Malavika, Namitha, Jyothirmayi and Keerthi Chawla, the movie is a remake of yesteryear film titled the same. Directed by Selvah, the movie is produced by Japak.

Khakha Khakha (Vijay Anthony, Charultha Mani, Maya, Magha, Vinaya)

The song begins with the verses from the famous Kanda Sashti Kavasam. It's very stylish and peppy.

Apparently shot on the hero and five heroines, the song is rocking from the word go. Vijay Anthony's harmony is amazing. Equally appealing are the voices of the singers. The chorus is really very smooth. The peppy 'Bhangra' style of music in the interlude adds momentum to the song.

Nee Kavidhai (Kish, Megha)

A romantic number with perfect rhythm and catchy beats. The highlight is Megha's open-throated voice.

The song begins on a slow note to gather momentum as it progress. The lyrics are catchy and easily sit in our lips. Vijay Anthony's shrewd use of additional percussion gives a boost to the song. It is sure to woo youngsters.

Ean Enakku (Jaydev, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran)

Vijay Anthony seems to go the S A Rajkumar way for this romantic song. It has a good rhythm accompanied by the good use of dholaks, tabla and flute. Debutante Sangeetha Rajeswaran is impressive, reminding one of Chitra, she begins on a husky note. The interlude an English rap rendered by the chorus is attractive. Amidst racy and peppy songs, Vijay Anthony has come out with melody, which is soft.

Macha Kanni (Vijay Anthony, Jayarajagopalan, Sathya Lakshmi)

The rocking song in the album. Besides composing the tune, Vijay Anthony has crooned the song in the company of Jayarajagopalan and Sathya Lakshmi. The singer in Vijay Anthony is a bundle of energy. A perfect 'dapanguthu' number, the song is sure to appease the front-benchers. Jayarajagopalan singing in a high pitched voice provides the right environment. Vijay Anthony has proved that he can even compose tunes for front-benchers.

Then Kudicha (Naresh Iyer, Deepa Miriam)

Yet again a racy number. The song begins with the lyrics from few popular Malayalam film songs. A shrewd Vijay Anthony has rendered a fusion of traditional Kerala musical instruments including Chendai melam with western tune. The bubbling energy with which Naresh Iyer renders the song amazes the listeners, the lyrics too has a mix of Malayalam words which can be easily understood.

Radha Kadhal (Maya, Prasanna, Vinaya, Sangetha Rajeswaran)

Vijay Anthony goes the MSV way. He has tried to retune the original version in KB's Naan Avanillai. Good use of tabla and dholaks deserve a mention. Prasanna is mesmerizing for his voice resembles that of SPB. An amazing song, which takes us to the yesteryears.
