Siddu (Plus Two 1st attempt) is a youthful romantic film written and directed by K. Bhagyaraj. It stars his son Santhanu and newcomer Chandni Tamilarasan play the main leads. This film is only the second Tamil film of Santhanu who debuted with 'Sakkarakatti' in 2008. Beside the lead pair the film has K. Bhagyaraj, Ganja Karuppu, Rajesh, Seetha, Avinash and Thalaivasal Vijay in other important characters.
Siddu tells the story of a young boy and a girl who are from different cities meet in Chennai under a strange situation. Siddu (Santhanu) for whom failing in exams is a habitual thing and his father who is a Principal curses him always for that. His mother too suffers constant mental agony seeing the hatred between her son and the father.
When Siddu fails in his Plus Two exams, situation worsens. Not wanting to see her mother suffer any more Siddu leaves his home and runs away to Chennai with an intention of committing suicide.
In Chennai, Siddu meets Pavithra (Chandni Tamilarasan) who is also sailing in the same boat. She two had run away from home after failing in her Plus Two exams. When Pavithra learns about the suicidal intentions of Siddu she tells Siddu that passing academic exams is not everything in life.
She motivates him to come up in another sphere of life by telling him the stories of people who have achieved fame and eminence in spite of poor education. She tells him that even if he fails in studies there are many other fields in which he can succeed.
Things change for the better and they both fall in love. When all was going well Pavithara's parents, who were searching for her, find her in Chennai and take her back to their hometown. Siddu then sets off to Pavithra's place in search of her.
Did Siddu find his love back? Did he succeed in his life? Did they live happily ever after? They are the questions that will be answered on screen.
Story is by Krishna Da Vinci. K Bhagyaraj has written the screenplay and dialogues of the film and so you can expect the film to have all youthful elements. This romantic entertainer was shot in Chennai, Palani and Hyderabad and songs on the sandy beaches of Bangkok.
Music of the film is by Dharan who scored wonderful songs in K Bhagyaraj's previous film 'Parijatham'. The audio of 'Siddu' was released on October 31, 2009. It features six songs out of which one is the remix of 'Naan Aalana Thamarai' from Bhagyaraj's 'Idhu Namma Aalu'.
The songs have already become hits. Interestingly Yuvan Shankar Raja and Venkat Prabhu have sung a song each in this film. Lyrics are by Na. Muthukumar, Babu Shankar and Amudhavan. Rasamathi cranks the camera while TSR Subhash takes care of editing.
'Siddu' is also made simultaneously in Telugu as 'Sare Nee Istam', with Shantanu and Kannada actress Aindrita Ray in the lead. However the Telugu version is directed by Mahesh Chandra.

After much permutations and deliberations Siddu is releasing on December 10, 2010 all over.
