After the success of Engal Anna, remake of Malayalam hit Chronic Bachelor, Vijayakanth is currently busy with Gajendra (again a remake of action-packed Telugu hit Simhadri starring NTR Jr). What is more, Vijayakanth has joined hands with director Suresh Krishna for the movie.
Vijayakanth plays the lead in Gajendra, who devotes his time and life for the welfare of people in his locality. He takes on a local gangster, who troubles his men and wins over him. Acting opposite Vijayakanth is a new face Laya. A Mumbai girl Flora also makes her debut in the movie. Radharavi, Sarath Babu, Ramesh Kanna, Vinu Chakravarthy, Seetha and Rajeev are also in the cast. The dialogues are by Liyakath Ali.
The movie is said to have fiery dialogues too. Rocky Rajesh's stunts are the highlight of the movie. A stunt sequence was shot at Thalakonam for more than 15 days.
Music is being scored by Deva, while cinematography is by Prathap.
V A Durai of Ever Green International, who had produced movies like Pithamagan starring Vikram and Surya, Looty with Sathyaraj and Lovely starring Karthick is producing Gajendra.
Suresh Krishna, who had earlier directed movies including Rajnikanth's Baba and Basha and Aalavandhan with Kamal Haasan says, 'the movie is an action-packed one that would certainly appeal to Vijayakanth's fans'. Rajath Bedi and Nawab, who had acted in negative roles in few Hindi movies including Koyla and Ko Mil Gaya are acting as villains.
