Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai - Trendy, chic and cool
IndiaGlitz  [Thursday, September 18, 2008]

Welcome director Krishna Seshadri Gomadam. At a time when Tamil cinema is ridden by commercial masala entertainers, he has provided a fresh lease of life coming up with a movie that is path breakingly different and provides a fresh feel.

It is rich, trendy and quite different from the rest. It is a yuppie film which speaks of the life in upper and upper middle class aristocratic families in a city like Chennai. In a nutshell, Krishna Seshadri Gomadam has dealt in detail about a youth, who is aspiring to make a mark as a film director in the tinsel town of Kollywood. In between he has humor and other emotions in his life.

A group of talented technicians and those who perform with zeal and determination have come together for this 'metro' or the 'multiplex' movie which breaks all the grammar of the routine Tamil cinema.

Krishna's preference for the jocular part is spread all through the movie. Every one of the character is embedded with a humor quotient. Nothing is being lunged in to the script. It flows with utmost freedom resembling a river in its course running at various directions finally to culminate at the right point. The aspirations of an adolescent young boy and his teen days, life after romance have been shot exceedingly well.

Hayagreev aka Haags (C P Satyajit) is an aspiring film-maker. He wants to make a mark in cinema and runs hither and there seeking a chance to direct a film. His lover Sindhu (Anuja Iyer), affected by chronic heart disease, is counting her days. She decides to marry Haags on condition that he should first direct a film.

Haags meets with humiliation everywhere. No producer wants to do a movie with a debutant. Meanwhile, the story takes a turn as Hayagreev describes on his early childhood, his romance and such similar episodes from his life. After several delays, he eventually manages an offer. But Sindhu is rushed to hospital where she slips to coma. Haags conceives a story, but struggles to find a climax. Steps in his assistant Mahesh (Charan). He conceives the climax and eventually goes on to complete the movie.

Walking out with aplomb is Sathyajith. The young guy is simply amazing. He performs with such ease and elegance. Equally appealing is Anuja Iyer. With her sophisticated looks, she is apt for the role. Likely captivating are the other characters played by debutantes Charan, Vidya Eswaran, M V Sriram, Murari, Keevna Issac among others. Background score by Aslam Mustafa and cinematography by Fowzia Fathima deserve applause. Editing by B Lenin, art direction by Thotta Tharani and audiography by Lakshminarayan are adequate.

‘M3V’ is a movie that is quite different and hopefully provides the encouragement to many others to come up with such innovative experiments. An entertainer all the way is ‘M3V’.
