Muran Movie Review - Murals of a film...

Two men, two worlds and one meet. This is 'Muran', a film by Rajan Madhav for you. No wonder Cheran was impressed with this fresher's skills, on the sets of 'Yudhdham Sei', when Rajan was working as an associate to Mysskin.

'Muran' by Cheran and UTV Motion Pictures is an intense thriller that generously feeds the intelligence appetite of the viewer. It's one of the very few films in the recent past which was made by taking the audience seriously, very seriously.

The movie starts and ends with a single-point agenda, that there should be no lag anywhere. A mission that has successfully been achieved by Rajan Madhav and his team.

Nandha (Cheran) is an introvert musician, who leads an unhappy life with his wife (Nikitha). And there is Arjun (Prasanna), son of an extremely rich businessman Devaraj (Jayaprakash).

While Nandha is soft, one of the qualities that leads to troubles with his wife, Arjun's happiness lies in living life dangerously. He loves thrill every moment and is ready to do anything for it.

One day, both meet during a trip, and they strike a deal between them that both should get rid of each other's hindrances by committing a murder!

One of the two men accomplishes the mission, with the other one yet to honour his part of the deal. The two swords cross with each other. What follows is a racy tale with so many twists and turns, with the climax emerging the mother of all suspense.

Cheran is at it again, delivering a matured performance. His expressions as a man who hides everything in his heart is near to perfection. Prasanna strikes a chord in his very first scene itself and makes us to watch him with a sense of fear as the film progresses. This movie is going to be a milestone in his career.

Nikitha and Haripriya are there to deliver goods, while Jayaprakash lends solidity to the rich businessman role he has played. Others in the cast are okay.

Music is by Sajjan Madhav, Rajan Madhav's brother. Understanding the mood of the movie and the expectations of his sibling, the young composer has worked to a T Cinematographer Padmesh's camera gives us a feel of watching a Hollywood thriller, so are the editor's scissors.

'Muran', despite shades of some foreign films, is a thriller that would be remembered for a long time in Tamil cinema. Rajan Madhav makes a commendable debut. No Muran (read contradiction) in it.
