2013 seems to be the worst year for the Telugu film industry in terms of turmoil on one hand and deaths on the other. First Sri Hari, then AVS and now, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam.
Senior comedian and character artiste Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam passed away succumbing to ill health which has kept him out of his profession for the past few months. He was 53 when he took his last breath today at his residence in Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad. He was born in Komminenivaripalem in Prakasham district
Stormed into the Telugu film scene in the year 1990 with Jandhyala's directorial 'Jayammu Nischayammura', he quickly made his mark with the signature timing and proved to be a household name in Telugu families. He did over a 170 films as an actor and directed a film titled 'Tokaleni Pitta' in the year 1997. Parallel to films, his TV show 'Anandobrahma' on DD was quite popular and was instrumental in his establishment as a known face.
He was active in state politics and worked for the Congress party and then for YSRCP. He was the AP State Cultural Council Chairman from 2004 in YSR's regime.
Dharmavarapu will be remembered by the Telugu audience as a wonderful clean comedian while the industry will remember him as a noncontroversial professional and good at heart human being.
