Sekhar Kammula, arguably the most urban Telugu director that has catered to the changing circumstances and relationships what with the amount of globalization that's been happening over the past two decades and the sea change that has been happening in the cinema viewing tastes and segmentization of audiences. Its commendable that he owns different sets of loyal audiences he has in the students, in the families and in the overseas crowds.
What he has done is take simple subjects, give a sensitive and sensible treatment but make sure that they represent a particular community of society, a big one at that. Anand for families, Happy Days for college goers, Leader for politically motivated youth etc have all reached their TG's in the most efficient manner and are regarded as classics of their own times. He is perhaps the most ambidextrous director on the block. On one hand he weaves the urban and nuclear get-go into the stories, while on the other he has marked the come back of the 'Telugu Cinema' with efforts like 'Godavari'.
He will be seven films old when his next film 'Anamika' starring Nayan Tara hits the screens but today he turns 42 years old as he celebrates his birthday. He has already seen the hits and flops in a short span of career lasting more than a decade and has matured over the years and one can look back at his works and the way they have changed over the years and say 'Man, He Is Here To Stay...'
IndiaGlitz wishes the director a very happy birthday and wish many more wonderful entertainers from him.
