Piracy – will it ever stop?
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, November 19, 2008]

Technology of modern times is so improvised to an extent with which we are able to decode mobile signals and corner the menacing terrorism. Yet, when it comes to cine industry, despite the establishment of a special piracy cell, the act of pirating movies prevails abundant. Although, the cell receives fiscal aid from the producers to protect their copyrights, the system fails miserably in carrying out the respective task.

The main reason being stated is the producers are void of unity among them in fighting this rising issue. It’s a pity that there are a few producers who are still unaware of the existence of such a system and lack apprehension on the same, says producer KS RamaRao.

A group of producers claim that they have been giving funds for every print of the movie christened in the name of piracy cell, but we haven’t come across a solid outcome yet.

Initially, when the piracy cell came into action, they conducted raids on video libraries to check for pirated prints. They also served warrants to some of the accused, but when we questioned them as to how many of them are punished, they answers are not so pristine.

There is no doubt that, the piracy cell set-up in collaboration with Film Chamber, headed by an ex-police officer is lagging behind seriously. If this continues the same way soon the piracy plague may establish itself widespread. Before any such disaster takes place, the producers should unite and fight piracy. Hopefully this might control the menace and put a full stop to this never ending atrocity on creativity.
