Adlabs Films USA Inc enters into agreement with Dreams on Frames a Movie Production company based at San Jose, CA, USA to distribute "Yedi Nijam" / "Meipporul" in USA.
Hollywood meets Kollywood/Bollywood/Tollywood in "Yedi Nijam" and "Meipporul" a new Tamil/Telugu suspense drama filmed entirely in the USA, but without the usual discussions of Green cards or the slate of traditional NRI issues.
As a full-length feature and the first Tamil/Telugu movie made entirely in the US, "Yedi Nijam" / "Meipporul" takes place in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, bringing people from different backgrounds together to create a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Doctors, engineers, and scientists have teamed with actors and professional movie-makers, and their collective passion transformed a promising storyline envisioned by directors Natty Kumar and Krish Bala into a full-blown screenplay that defies both Indian-American stereotypes and overturns the formulas of most Tamil cinemas.
"Yedi Nijam" / "Meipporul" lacks the traditional violence, fighting scenes, "item numbers," and dance-song sequences associated with the Bollywood/Kollywood/Tollywood genre. Instead, the writers aimed for storytelling with sensibility and creativity, with the intent of bringing a new feel to the Tamil movie industry. The movie was filmed on-location with a diverse cast comprising European Americans, African-Americans, East Asians, Middle-Easterners, and Latinos.
Directed jointly by Natty Kumar, son of TN Janakeraman (producer of "Mogamull" fame), and Krish Bala, with the directorial assistance of Narayan Sundararajan, "Meipporul" also includes a diverse crew.
The movie is edited by renowned Indian film editor and creator B. Lenin, recipient of multiple national and state awards for both editing and directing commercial and art movies.
Christopher Eldridge, a Hollywood cinematographer is the man behind the camera. Background music is composed by John Mazzei, who has scored music for Hollywood films, documentaries as well as the well-known Oprah Show.
"Yedi Nijam" / "Meipporul" will run 2 hours with English subtitles in the US. Songs and music will be provided in Dolby stereo sound. The film will release in USA on 24th April 2009.
