Proving that where there’s a will, there’s a way, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Pritam Chakraborty got around logistics and international barriers to record a song through e-mail. Pritam had wanted the vibrant Pakistani singer to render the song Dil da vasta for Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal. But even after Rahat’s visa to India got rejected, Imtiaz remained adamant that only Rahat sing the song. So, the enterprising singer and composer hit upon the idea of e-mail.
Pritam made a draft of the song, ran it by Imtiaz at 4:30 a.m., sang the song, recorded it and sent it to Rahat. For his part, Rahat accepted the challenge and recorded the song in his studio in two hours flat and reverted back to Pritam. Such is the dedication and commitment of both the men, that the final version of the song was pitch perfect. The song will be picturised on Saif Ali Khan. The movie has Saif and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, with Rahul Khanna and Rishi Kapoor in supporting roles.
