It is not often that one gets to hear stories on self made men and that too in the film industry. But here is one man who hailed from an ordinary family and then went on to become the undisputed emperor of the Telugu film industry.

Having seen the likes of legends like NTR, ANR and others, the new age Telugu audience was waiting to see if there could be someone of that caliber. This was filled by none other than Konidela Sivasankara Vara Prasad, fondly known as Chiranjeevi.

Having made his debut in the year 1978 with the film Praanam Khareedhu, Chiranjeevi started his journey and went on to do all shades of roles as a villain, hero, side kick and many others. He also displayed his prowess in comedy with the film ‘Chantabbayi’ and did some character driven performances with movies like ‘Swayamkrushi’ ‘Magamaharaju’ etc.

Today is Chiru’s birthday and though he has reached the 149th film, the magic figure of completing the 150th film still remains in suspense.

Today, he is the head of the PrajaRajyam Party and has been bravely trying to take it forward despite the huge blows that the party has incurred. While many are hoping to see Chiru back in action on the silver screen, only time will tell if their dream will come true or not.

For now, Chiranjeevi fans have planned several charity acts and other noble deeds on his special day. He may not have shined as a leader in the real life but then he still lives in the hearts of many of his fans and his screen charisma has never faded.

His fame as a self disciplined and highly professional actor is now being seen in his son Ramcharan Teja who has already scored a blockbuster hit with ‘Magadheera’.

With a family that has been dedicated to the film industry and with megastar Chiranjeevi leading the pack, it is truly the right moment to salute this stalwart and wish him a very happy birthday!!!
