It was a show that the film industry took as a challenge.  When it was overwhelmed by the deluge caused by deathly floods in October's first week, the Movie Artistes' Association, under the leadership of Dasari, took it as a human duty to do their bit to help poor villagers, rendered homeless and penniless, overcome the trauma.  On Saturday's Star Night, christened Spandana, it was more than evident.
 
Since the word go, it was a spirited event.  Occasionally moving the hearts of those present when dignitaries and important film personalities spoke emotionally, it was also entertaining with song, dance, comedy and much more.  Perhaps the rarest event of the kind in the country, it was an event in which the maximum number of actors, actresses, comedians, technicians etc participated.
 
From the satirical Neti Patrikalu to Krishnamaraju's spouting of dialogues from Tandrapaparayadu to Narayana Murthy's dialogues, it was a show that sought to be a rich pot pourri of all emotions.  Raghavendra Rao directed Mohan Babu, Jaya Sudha, Roja, Narsing Yadav in a skit.  When Balakrishna and Sangeetha shook legs for Luxu papa from Narasimha Naidu, it was high-decibel whistles all the way.  Others who participated were - Rohith, Varun Sandesh, Sonu Sood, Kamal Kamraju, Rajeev Kanakala, Tanikella Bharani, Uttej, Raghu Babu etc.  Among heroines, Anushka, Shriya, Bindu Madhavi, Navneeth Kaur, Priyamani sizzled all through.
 
It was peppered with comedy skits like Okka Roopayi, by Brahmanandam and Sunil; SV Krishna Reddy-directed Gruhasimha, by Kallu Chidambaram and Telangana Shakuntala; Subbarayadu Pelli in which Venu Madhav and Suma were seen as groom and bridegroom respectively.  Another one saw Sri Hari, Babu Mohan and others in a well-performed comedy skit.

The Chief Minister, who was given a cheque for Rs. 5,28,47,101, appreciated the spirit of the film industry, including those who contributed individually.
