It would not be an exaggeration to say that actor AVS has come up with a novel idea. To use his blog to let his readers choose the well-deserved is much more democratic and intelligent than the voting system which the tv channels use to give away awards.
Telling the world about this idea, AVS said on Monday, "Blogs have come to occupy a prominent place in the Internet-driven world. I am trying to involve my 35,000 readers (of his blog) vote the best filmi talent in 11 categories for the year 2011."
AVS' move was hailed by Dasari, who took the opportunity to take pot-shots at the lobbying that goes for almost every prestigious award, including the Padma awards and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. "Awards are slowly losing their pride of place. Lobbying goes on at both national and State levels", he said adding that genuine talent and not stars deserve awards.
JP of Loksatta Party termed the leveraging of Blog, which is a social media, to recognise talent belonging to cinema, which is a social media too, without partiality. "This is a good precedent", he commented.
The event was attended by Murali Mohan, SV Krishna Reddy, Burugupalli and Prasanna Kumar.
