The Karnataka Audio and Video Owners Association formation a fortnight has resulted in a biggest raid at different places of Bengaluru to check the piracy. On two days the Bengaluru police seized worth Rs.80 lakhs audio and video CD and DVD of Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, English and Hindi films. The regular raids like this would definitely help the audio and video companies in Karnataka to sustain in the market says association President Lahari Velu alias G Thulsiram Naidu.
The Bengaluru City Police commissioner Jyothi Prakash has written a letter to the government of Karnataka to take action on 83 personalities who were traced in the piracy raid on Anti Goonda Act procedures.
The letter of police commissioner also says three times caught piracy operators would automatically fit in to the Anti Goonda Act.
The team of police officers headed by T Sunil Kumar, B Dayanand, Sonia Narang, TG Krishna Bhat, Ravikanthe Gowda, Krishnam Raju and SN Siddaramappa conducted the raids in Koramangala, National marker, Burma Bazar, Hongkong Bazar, Sukh Sagar Mall and other places.
The KAVOA thanked the government of Karnataka for setting up a separate wing constituting two DCP's Siddaramappa and BR Ravikanthe Gowda and one ACP Khori to check the piracy operations in Karnataka.
According to Lahari Velu it is Rs.300 crore losses per annum from the piracy in Karnataka alone. The piracy happening in the labs should be countered efficiently. The stringent laws similar in UK and USA on piracy should be enforced in India feels Lahari Velu.
