For some sections of people in our country, raising a banner of intellectual protest against atavistic practices is absolutely wrong. Since Aamir Khan has 'sinned' by doing just this, he may not be welcome at the Mahapanchayat to be held in Haryana on July 14.

Latest reports suggest that village leaders of the Khap Panchayats in that State have dropped the idea of inviting the superstar and his wife Kiran Rao for the event, where the issue of female foeticide is to be talked about.

Apparently, the decision was taken to this effect because some local panchayat leaders allegedly objected to the portrayal of the issue of honour killings in the context of the ideological position of Khap Panchayats in this regard in an episode of Satyameva Jayate.

His star presence and persona could have made a real difference in the discussion over the widening sex ratio in Haryana.
