Kota Srinivasa Rao, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, develops his acting template from real-life politicians. He was seen in a pol's role in the recently released Shakuni. "When I have to play a politician's role, I just ape real politicians. We see them so much on television nowadays. There are ubiquitous," he says. Kota feels that in this era of digitalisation, actors are having to give 10-15 takes for a shot. There is no fear of incurring extra expenditure on the waste of footage.
He also feels that the importance of villains has come down in the new age. "There was a time when the villain used to be described as an anti-hero. The villain doesn't enjoy such stature today," he comments.
Kota rues the fact that there is dependence on artists from other languages. He, however, is quick to add that he is not against this crossing over. He wants to share screen space with Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar.
