Director B Unnikrishnan has aired his sharp criticisms against the year's State Awards announced yesterday. Citing that the movies from youngsters were  given a raw deal, B Unnikrishnan specifically mentioned the case of 'Melvilasam', which even though fetched  a lot of critical acclaim was not given a single award.The director opined that the movie met with the same fate as was the case of the Dalit hero of its  plot, facing a court-martial.
 
The year had at least a dozen movie from youngsters competing for various awards, but majority of them like this 'Melvilasam' , 'Urumi, 'City of God' and 'Beautiful' went largely unnoticed.
