Despite all the original flavour that the scenes involving the fly, Samantha and Sudeep had in Eega, SS Rajamouli has come to face the criticism that his film is not original and that it is an inspired film. Just the similarity between the reincarnation element common to a short Australian film, Cockroach, and Eega has been enough for some to accuse the ace director of committing plagiarism.
Losing no time in scoffing at the charges, Rajamouli, whose film was two days ago praised by Shah Rukh Khan as original, said this to a daily: "I was going through several animations films made on animals while making Eega and I came across a film 'Fluke', which is about reincarnated dog taking revenge. So no one compares Cockroach and Fluke but it's unfortunate that people draw parallels between Eega and Cockroach. I feel bad when people make such accusations but I can clearly say that it's purely a coincidence and Eega is an original piece."
