Every time we hear that so-and-so film will release on a specific date, we are justified to think that someone is thinking wishfully. If Puri Jagannadh, who holds the record of making films like a harried student writes answers in the enthusiasm of submitting his answer sheet before everyone, could live up to his promise of releasing CGTR on the promised date, it is only because the producer was lucky that the theatres were there.
Tollywood nowadays holds this record: The rate of on-time release of its movies is much lesser than the success rate of its more than 150-odd movies.
This makes us skeptical about the January releases. For one, there is Cherry's Naayak, Venky's Shadow and Venky-Mahesh's SVSC, to name three of the most talked-about ones. Adding itself to the quota is Kamal Hassan's most ambitious film ever, Viswaroopam. Its release date is Jan 11, which is exactly the date on which Tollywood's most ambitious multi-starrer in decades will hit the screens.
Forget audience, will Viswaroopam find theatres? Will it be postponed in Telugu, while the Tamil and Hindi version release on that day? Let's wait and watch!
