This was the first movie in Telugu to run for 75 weeks. It had completed 100 days in 62 centres and silver jubilee in 18 centres. The film has won the Best Telugu movie award in 1963 and NTR won a special jury award for acting in 'Lava Kusha', 'Karnan' and 'Narthana Shala'
