Legend Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Savithri's ever green classic movie 'Devadasu' has completed 60 years. It was released on June 26th, 1953. Though the movie was based on the novel 'Devadas' written by Bengali writer Sharat Chandra, it was well adopted to the Telugu nativity.
The film has redefined the love stories of Telugu films. Though many had doubted initially, if ANR and Savithri will suit the characters in the film, they had been lauded for their majestic and heard rendering performances after the release. The film has redefined the love stories of Telugu films.
Directed by Vedantam Raghavaiah, the film was produced by D.L.Narayana under Vinoda Pictures banner. The film's music score was also a big hit. Some songs were composed by C.R.Subburaman, and as he suddenly demised, M.S.Viswanathan and Ramamoorthy composed the remaining two songs.
ANR says that it was the most memorable film in his career, and they had worked very carefully as the story was already known to all and many had criticized them that he and Savitri will not be fit to the roles.
Though the film has completed 60 years, it is still considered as one of the best and it will be remembered for ever. It has been even listed in the greatest Indian films of all time on the occasion of centenary celebrations of Indian cinema.
