Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, ace writer and actor was felicitated with 'Lifetime achievement award' in an event organized by the Delhi Telugu Academy marking the 100 years of Indian cinema on their own 26th Anniversary celebrations. Others from Telugu Film Industry like Madhavapeddi Suresh, Chandra Bose, Sivaji Raja, Gopika Purnima, Vijaya Lakshmi, Mallikharjuna, Krishna Kaushik etc were also awarded on the occasion.
Supreme Court Justice Chalameshwar, who was the chief guest on the occasion said 'The values for cinema have changed over the years. As Telugu cinema is crossing boundaries in commerce, it's also doing the same in violence and sex and the need to check the same is ever rising'.
Maruthi Rao said 'My journey with this 100 years industry is about 50 years. I met many legends and stars on my way and learnt from them. Today's cinema has become more commercial than ever and its not a good sign'
