'Devadasu' 175 Days Function

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Devadasu is one of the biggest grossers of the year. Beating all expectations, it is still running (well past 175 days) in many centers.

Naturally it called for celebrations. And that is what Y V S Chowdary and his team did not Saturday last at the Odeon Theatre in Hyderabad.

Led by the redoubtable Dasari Naryana Rao, and with celebrities like Venkatesh and Jayapradha at hand, the celebrations were colourful.

Dasari, Venkatesh and Jayapradha distributed shields to the cast and crew on this occasion.

Producers ML Kumar Chowdary, Sravanthi Ravikishore, Bhagavan, Danayya, BVSN Prasad, KL Narayana, directors Srinu Vaitla, Boyapati Srinivas, Sagar, B Gopal were also present.

Ram, Ileana, producer YVS Chowdary, music director Chakri added glitter to the occasion.

Dasari Narayana Rao said Devadasu was a success because of the magic of YVS Chowdary. He spoke humorously about the previous Devadasu and the new one.

‘Chakri’s music also helped a lot in the movie’s success,’ the elder statesman of the industry said and added that he was chuffed with the performance of Tollywood this year.

Venkatesh said both Ram and Ileana had very good future. Venky also made some impish comments on Ileana that had the audience in splits.

Chakri, who came in for praise from many quarters, spoke about his work and the success of the movie.
