Murugadas, who started his film career as script-writer, involved in the story sittings of Vaali and Kalisundam Raa.
He became a popular director overnight in Telugu with his bilingual film Gajini. He was able to extract the perfect feeling from the hero Suriya and mould it on the celluloid to mesmerize the audiences.
Before Gajini, he had worked for Ramana (which was later remade in Telugu as Tagore).
