Anjani Kumar, who had directed 'Ayyappaswami Mahatyam' sometime ago is now trying to mould yet another epic on the celluloid. That is about Goddess Vengamamba. The shooting of 'Sri Vengamamba' jointly produced by D Kala Sukumar and A Satyanarayana on the banner of Devalayam Creations was launched at Annapurna Studios recently.

Smitha Madhavan is playing the title role. KIMS chairman Bollineni Krishnaiah switched on the camera and ML Kumar Choudary gave the clap for the muhurat shot picturised under the honorary direction of Sivashakti Datta.

Director Anjanikumar says, 'Sri Vengamamba was born in Neravada of Udayagiri mandal in Nellore district. The story dates back to 16th century. Kalyani is playing the role of Pedda Vengamamba.'

Saratbabu is playing the role of Vengamamba's father-in-law, while Muralimohan is playing her father.

One of the producers Sukumar says, 'Krishna is playing another important character of Dasu in this film, who explains the birth of Vengamamba.'

The director says, 'The film is planned to be shot in four schedules and the first schedule would continue till December 8. Next schedule is planned in Nellore. Hero Vijayanand and villain Trilochan are making their debuts through this film.'
