What are you up to these days?
After Oka Radha Iddaru Krishnula Pelli, I got lot of offers from Tamil. I took them up and hence was busy. My last movie in Tamil was a hit called Engal Anna with Vijaykanth. IT has been remade in Telugu as Kushikushiga. Currently I am shooting for a Tamil movie Aei opposite Sarath Kumar.
Typically, what are the roles you are doing in Tamil?
Actually, there has been a lot of variety. I am playing the role of an emotional but funny girl in Aei. I love comedies and was very satisfied with the work in Engal Anna. I enjoyed working with Vijay Kanth and Prabhu Deva. Then there are also the glamour roles.
Are you getting no offers in Telugu?
It is a bit silly to ask this question. I know some people are spreading rumours about me. The reason for doing Tamil movies is that I don't want to restrict myself only to one language. I plan to do some in Kannada and Malayalam too. Let people wait and watch and they will stop talking bad about me.
On your Telugu film roles
I know Oka Radha Iddaru Krishnula Pelli didnt do well at the box-office. But I was happy with my work. I loved my role because it gave me ample scope to display my talent. The success or failure of a movie does not rest solely on the heroine. Every department contributes equally.
On future projects in Tollywood
I am doing a special role in Aithe Enti. It is only a special appearance. But it is challenging and stimulating. Unfortunately for my fans there is no single song of mine in this movie.
On being branded as a glamour doll
Tell me how can I take my clothes off when the censor board is wide-awake ready with scissors to snip off the scene? I am here to do emotional scenes that touch a chord in the viewers heart not to titillate them. But glamour is part of filmdom. Yet, you cannot brand me as a glamour puss. Glamour can be portrayed within the limits of decency. We cannot forget that our world is still traditional and so is our culture and we should not go beyond that. My Telugu culture will not allow me to do all that.
