Why have you been doing only mass entertainers? It is a conscious decision. I have been successful in such roles right from the start. Like my grandfather, the late NTR and uncle Balakrishna, I would like to do mostly angry young man roles and live up to our family tradition. Agreed, it is difficult to find such powerful roles. But I am hopeful that writers will be inspired and come up with mind-blowing roles to help me keep my resolve. I am discussing a few more interesting projects. Why are you almost self-effacing in your comments on Sambha? It is not self-effacing. It is quite simply some rational reasoning. We don't want to create a frenzied hype around the film. It can be counterproductive. We first wanted to finish the film to the best of our abilities and then do the talking. What is special about Sambha? Simply the script. The theme and idea (Of G S Rao) is just amazing. I ma not saying this just because this is my film. We have also brought in Vinayak with whom I worked in Aadi. But as in any successful film, it is the team that is important. I hope you can see what successful teams can do in Sambha. How has been working with your mentor Naani?Well, in one word fabulous. We have known Naani uncle since my early childhood. He has been with me through thick and thin. I will let you into a secret on this film. When I was doing my debut film, we decided that we will do our ninth film together (nine is a lucky number for both). As it happens, we have managed to keep a tryst with our desire. The film has been a big budget one and no cost has been spared on anything.
What are your future projects? I am doing a film with B Gopal. After the failure of Allari Ramudu and both of us have taken up this project as a big challenge. Producer Venkat Rao, the man behind the sensational hit Samarasimha Reddy, is spending hugely to get another mega-grosser. As far as my role is concerned, it will be interesting. I don't want to get into specifics. But all I can say it is a commercial film with oodles of everything. It will be released for next Sankranti.
