I am happy and comfortable with Vinayak – Prabhas

    Monday, October 23, 2006
Young Rebel Star Prabhas entered the film industry with ''''Eswar'''' directed by Jayant C Paranji. He earned a good mass image right with his first film. His films like ''''Varsham'''' and ''''Chatrapati'''' created ripples in the film industry and he became a favorite hero for several youngsters. Though some of his films turned flops, he did not fall in depression but worked with renewed vigor in the next film and proved that he is a successful hero. According to him, one''''s performance can''''t be dismissed with a flop and one can''''t be declared a big hero with a success. As an artiste he says he is satisfied as a hero and at the same time he says that he is a novice to the character for every new film. One had to try for perfection in each of the character. Indiaglitz had an interaction with this Young Rebel Star on the occasion of his birthday on October 23. Let us hear about him and his previous and forthcoming films in his own words.

    Over to Prabhas.

What is the speciality of this year's birthday?

Yes it is really a special for me this year, because this is my fourth birthday as an artiste. From my last birthday I have taken a big leap with the success of Chatrapati. At the same time, I am doing a film with a great director like VV Vinayak which is really very very special.

How would be your film 'Yogi' with VV Vinayak?

This film has mother sentiment in the backdrop and goes in a different way. It is the remake of a film called 'Jogi'. But we have only taken the concept of the original and made lots of changes to suit the nativity. Vinayak really reworked on the script very hard. Naturally the Indians have 200 per cent sentiment in their blood. To my knowledge, almost 90 per cent of films made on sentiment backdrop were proved successful and became big hits. So we are very confident that our film would also be a big hit.

What is your character in this film?

If I reveal about my character, it indirectly tells the entire story. So, I can't reveal about it now. But in a nutshell, it is the transformation of Eswarchandra Prasad to Yogi. The hero comes from village to the city. You can find two shades in this character. With 'Varsham', I was able to win the hearts of girls. When I did 'Chatrapati', I became very near to boys. 'Yogi', will help reach me the hearts of the family audiences. The film would be released as Sankranthi gift.

Tell us about your director Vinayak…

Vinayak is a decent person. I have no intimacy with him earlier and I became close to him with this film. Now we are very good friends. When there is shooting the next day, he used to ask me on how my mood and if I am not in good mood, he cancels the next day shooting. He is maintaining such cordial relationship with me. Whenever I take part in shooting, I never feel hard to perform in any scene and I used to feel why he is taking things so easily. But when I watch the preview, I am getting a shock of my lifetime, whether I worked with such perfection. I never felt so comfortable with any other director so far. He is really a good and comfortable director.

What about your feelings towards the producers of 'Yogi'

In fact, they are new to the industry. After signing the film, I thought how would be their planning because they are novices. But I am surprised after watching their planning, their making style and their passion towards film-making. Ravinder Reddy, Chandrapratap Reddy and Sudarshan Reddy had good knowledge over films and film making. Possibly it is because of their experience as exhibitors. They knew about the making value. They should have entered the industry long ago. But they must be waiting for a good story and a fine combination. When 'Yogi' came as handy for them, they entered the industry. I had a feeling of working with good producers.

What about Rajamouli with whom you worked in your earlier film?

Rajamouli is our family friend right from the beginning and he is also a friend of mine personally. Whatever work he does, he will do it with total concentration and never compromise. What all he needs is a success. He has several personalities in him including artiste, technician, producer and a director. He will look after each and everything on his own. I never saw such a work dedication in any other person.

Tell us about the other film 'Munna' which you are doing simultaneously…

I have a big dream of working in a film which has a stylish character. One fine day, my friend Vamsi Paidipalli came to me. I know him for a very long time. He said he had a story and narrated it to me and I okayed it. It is an action film coupled with good entertainment values, besides love. In 'Munna' each scene will have a stylish presentation of the hero. I personally feel very happy for doing such a film.

Then tell us about your friend Vamsi Paidipalli, who is also directing that film…

Vamsi is my close friend. He knows everything about me. He also had a dream to become a director and showed good interest to enter the industry. Noticing his interest, I recommended his name to producer MS Raju as assistant director when I am doing 'Varsham'. Choreographer cum director Lawrence, who came to compose a dance for 'Varsham' noticed the enthusiasm in Vamsi and took him as an assistant director for his film 'Mass'. Later, I again recommended his name to 'Dil' Raju for 'Bhadra' when he was producing that film. When 'Dil' Raju revealed his intention to do a film with me, I spoke to Vamsi to prepare a good story and he worked on 'Munna' story for 42 days, which is agreeable to everyone. In fact, 'Dil' Raju planned to do 'Bhadra' with me, but changed his mind and decided to do 'Munna' with me. He himself gave Vamsi a chance to direct the film also. I am sure that Vamsi will become a big director, because he has the zeal. The output of this film had doubled my confidence on him. I am sure that his work dedication would take him to places.

Is there any situation where you feel very happy during these four years?

I am always happy because I entered my ambitious field. I did some films out of my own interest but they did not do well commercially. They are Chakram and Pournami. I still question myself why they failed and get a feel that some thing is missing in those films and could not identify what it was. But both those film made me identify myself as an artiste. For this I am very happy.

We came to know that you are doing a film with Puri Jagannath. Is it true?

Yes, definitely I will do a film with him. Already one subject also came up for discussion, but we have not yet finalised it. I personally did not commit any film with him.

Do you want to do films again with Rajamouli and Vinayak?

Why not. I will definitely do films with them but not immediately. I feel very comfortable to do films with them. I will take some gap for doing films again with them.

How would be your interaction with your fans? What is your message to them?

I always used to meet my fans after 6 pm whenever I am free at home. I share photos with them also. I keep asking them what are their opinion on my acting and performance and in what kind of roles and what kind of combinations they are expecting from me. I will try to implement their ideas in reality. Whenever I go to outdoor shooting, several people including fans come to meet me. I don't want to disappoint them. I will spend some time with them after the shooting is packed up. I love all my fans. I am not that big to give messages to my fans. But I wish everyone should mould their career in a right path and be happy.
