I like the comedy by Brahmanandam: Bharat Kumar

    Tuesday, November 14, 2006
Bharat Kumar made his debut as child artiste in a Tamil film ''Naina''. He was able to work with one of the great artistes like Kamal Haasan in ''Pancha Tantram'' in his third film itself. After playing in three Tamil films, he had got an opportunity to make his debut in Telugu through ''Anandamaanandamaye'' directed by Sreenu Vytla. He was able to grab opportunities very soon and he became famous by playing in several Telugu hit films like, ''Gudumba Shankar, Happy, Venky, Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila and Pokiri''. He had completed 15 films so far in Telugu and Tamil and became a busy artiste. Indiaglitz had a chit chat with this young and dynamic child artiste on the occasion of the ''Children''s Day''. Over to Bharat Kumar:

How did you get a chance in Tamil films?

I like films right from my childhood. Once the AVM unit people saw me and asked me to play in their film 'Naina'. They had also convinced my parents and I had a chance to make my debut in Tamil film industry. After that I did one more film. Then I have got an opportunity to play along with Kamal Haasan in 'Pancha Tantram'.

How you got an opportunity in Telugu then?

My film with Kamal Haasan, 'Pancha Tantram' was dubbed into Telugu. After watching my performance, Sreenu Vytla gave me a chance to play in a Telugu film called 'Anandamaanandamaye'. That was a good character for me and gave me good boost in the Telugu film industry. Like this, I entered the film industry and so far acted in over 15 films in both Tamil and Telugu.

You played along with Kamal Haasan in a film? How did you feel?

Kamal Haasan is a big artiste. In fact, I am afraid of doing a role along with him. But he is quite free with me. He always keeps calling me a friend. Whenever, I did a scene accurately, he used to kiss me.

What was the reaction from the heroes in Telugu film industry?

They too receive me well. It is not the question of Telugu or Tamil. Everyone receives me well. Whether it is Pawan Kalyan in 'Gudumba Shankar', or Ravi Teja in 'Venky' or Mahesh Babu in 'Pokiri' — all work with me in a soft mind. Whenever I did not do properly, they keep showing me how to do and made me to learn acting in a skillful manner.

How does the director explains you the scene?

All the directors narrate the scene and explain it with the situation. If I am unable to understand the scene, they give me a demo on how to act. Not only one director, every director will do like that. However, it is Srinu Vytla who extracted the real talents in me.

How about reception by other artistes in Telugu?

I am fond of comedy done by Brahmanandam uncle. I like to work with him. Not only in films, even outside he does good comedy. He is quite good. Likewise, MS Narayana, LB Sriram, Ali and all others receive me well.

Who are your favourite hero and heroine?

I have no specific favourite hero or heroine. I like the hero with whom I work with. I worked with Simran, then with Genelia. Mahesh Babu was my favourite hero when doing with 'Pokiri', while it is Allu Arjun, when I did 'Happy'.

What are your projects on hand?

Presently I am doing a role in 'Jajimalli' in Telugu. My name is Bharatkumar and the director is also Bharatkumar. Doing a similar role in Tamil's version of 'Pokiri'. Vijay and Asin are doing extremely well. Here in Telugu version, Brahmanandam played the role of a software engineer, while it was modified in Tamil version and Vadiveli is playing the role of a Kung Fu fighter. Besides, agreed to do several Telugu films.

What was the reaction from your parents when you portrayed the drinking scene in 'Venkatesh'?

Director Srinu Vytla explained me the scene and showed me how to act and I repeated it. Everyone who watched the scene appreciated me that I performed well. Even my parents patted me. Later, I saw the scene in the film and came to know that it is a boozing scene. But it came out well. However, that credit goes to Srinu Vytla alone.

How do you react when the directors explain you the scene?

I don't know anything except to do what the director said and narrated. They explain me in detail or act themselves and show me how to act. I will simply follow them. Our job is to learn what they said or shown as fast as possible.

How did you balance your studies and acting?

I am doing my Class VI now. I love studies more than acting. I will continue my studies besides acting.

How would be the reaction from your friends who watched your movies?

They feel very happy. They compliment me after watching the film and sometimes they ask me to act those scenes again. My friends like me very much.

Will you be a big hero in future?

No. I wanted to become a good doctor. But I leave the choice to my parents. I will accept whatever they say. If they want me to see as a hero, I will become a hero.

How are you going to celebrate the Children's Day?

Generally, I go to school and distribute chocolates to all students. We all move together happily. In case the school remains a holiday, I will go to some poor students and give them some chocolates and spend sometime with them happily.

Which film industry you like the most? Tamil or Telugu?

Both are good. Everyone receive me well. I do films wherever I get a chance. I don't find any difference between Telugu and Tamil industries.

Who will dub your voice in Telugu?

I only dub my voice in Telugu. The dialogues would be written in Tamil and I by-heart them and deliver it in Telugu with a correct modulation.
