What is the target of 'Lakshyam'?
It is the story of a happy-go-lucky college student. He faced some problems personally and also to his family. How he faced those problems and how he reached the target is the basic storyline of 'Lakshyam'.
Tell us about the director of the film?
The director narrated me the story in about half an hour. He had a clarity on what he wanted to explain on the celluloid. After shooting of the film, we watched the rushes and came to a conclusion that he would become one of the top directors.
Did the director moulded the film in the way he explained it to you? Or are there any deviations?
Of course, he exactly reproduced the story which he narrated to me on the screen. However, he made one or two changes for betterment, but not deviated from the storyline that was told to me. In fact, he brought it out in a much better way.
Generally the present generation heroes look for senior directors who were in good form for their films. But you are going with novel and debut directors. Don't you feel that you are experimenting with them?
My judgement went wrong only in case of 'Raraju'. For all the other films, my predictions were proved correct. Almost all my films went well with good collections.
This is the second film for producer Nallamalupu Srinivas. What is the reason for doing a film again with him?
He came to me and expressed his opinion to do one more film with me as hero. He narrated me a story, but I did not like it. Later, he brought Sri Vasu and made him to explain another story. Sri Vasu told me a story and it was the kind of film which I am looking at. At the pattern was almost similar to my ideas, I agreed to do that subject. Earlier, Bujji produced 'Lakshmi', which was a big hit. Like that, he is working very hard to make this film also a big hit. It is not the money but the success of the film is his priority. He is spending money like water without any hesitation. He is a very good producer. After Babu Rao, I am moving very freely with this producer.
So far you played roles in mass-oriented film? Why did you not touch the class subjects?
You cannot classify a film as mass or class. It is not that one who wears a tie is a class, and who fight in street is a mass. Our film would reach every one. Take for example 'Okkadunnadu'. It was liked by all classes of audiences and everyone received it well.
What about Manisharma's music?
So far 'Ranam' audio was the best among all the films in my career. But the audio of this film has come out in a further better way. Choreography of songs was also quite good. Definitely the audio as well as the picturisation of songs would be good for all classes of audiences.
How did you shake legs in this film?
I believe I did very well. Rajasekhar composed steps for one song, Suchitra did another, while Raju Sundaram choreographed three songs. All of them came out very well. Instead of me saying that they were good, it was the audiences who should enjoy them on the screen and give their applause.
Tell us about the other side characters in your film?
Brahmanandam, Venumadhav, Kota Srinivasa Rao gave a very good combination with me. The timing was set perfectly with all the side characters for the hero.
What about the comedy track in the movie?
Comedy track is also quite good. The audiences would enjoy all the scenes whether they were shot in the house set or college set.
What are the highlights of the flick?
Story is very good. Screenplay was good. Each scene would be quite good. Some scenes are very good and impressive. But I should not reveal any of them? On a whole, the entire film and its flow would be good.
Assume that you are not interested in certain scenes but you are forced to do them at the instance of the director? How would you feel then?
We discuss about the scenes before going to the sets. So there is no question of acting in a scene without interest. In case if there is any it would be thoroughly discussed early and then appear before the camera.
How far, Gopichand involves in the film other than as hero?
Whenever I go to sets, I will think about my character and my job. After portraying my role in the scene, I will just walk out of the sets.
As a whole, how would be the film?
Definitely the audiences would get a feel that they watched a good movie. Whenever we go to a function, they would serve us delicious dishes. This film would also be like that. It has several kinds of elements that could satisfy the wishes of all classes of audiences. I am very confident it would not leave any one dissatisfied. For the first time, I am working with Anushka. Bujji showed me 'Vikramarkudu'. Anushka is a hard worker and sincere in her profession. She has total dedication towards her job. She danced very well in songs than in 'Vikramarkudu'.
