 Sumanth these days must be anxious and sweating.
And that would not be due to his impending marriage to actress Keerthi Reddy.
He has other things to worry, especially on the career front.
The man with rich looks and richer lineage (grandson of Nageshwara Rao and nephew of Nagarjuna) has a career that has not gone anywhere.
Now his Gauri, directed by B V Ramana, is a good chance to redeem himself as a saleable actor.
But Sumanath has not taken any chances and has played safe by picking a theme that has already proved successful ---- Gauri is a straight remake of Tamil hit Thriumalai.
The story is of a mechanic with an in-your-face attitude. He lives life on his own terms and has nobody as his own. But a husband and wife who come to live near his mechanic shed area almost adopt him.
In the meanwhile, he also falls in love with a girl who, not surprisingly, is the villain's daughter.
After much blood-spill and bloodier dialogues, the hero and heroine unite. In terms of content, the movie may not have much novelty. But the treatment is what helped the Tamil original to succeed.
For the heroine, Charmi, after Anjaneyam, this is another major break. She is also hoping to consolidate her position and become a regular in Tollywood.
"There are heavy dialogues for my character. At the same time, it has a good comedy mix," says Sumanth about his role in the film.
The action-packed movie is also said to have some catchy music by Koti. Director Ramana says that he has infused some interesting elements into the script.
Sumanth may be looking for no better marriage present than the success of Gauri.
If that happens, he and Keerthi can have a life-long honeymoon.
