Bommana Brothers-Chandana Sisters - A healthy comedy film
IndiaGlitz  [Friday, April 18, 2008]

Films are of different genre. They could be categorised as films with action, mass, family and college backdrop. Every kind of film has their own set of audiences and each of them had their own seasons too. But, there is one more kind of films which are based on comedy.

These films have no particular set of audiences and everyone patronise such films. While directors like Jandhyala, EVV Satyanarayana, Vamsi and others had excelled in bringing out such comedy films, the latest inclusion into the list of Srinivas Reddy.

His films like 'Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila' and 'Yamagola' proved hilarious hits. This time he chose the popular business organisations' names as the title of the film for yet another hilarious comedy called 'Bommana Brothers-Chandana Sisters'.

He chose Allari Naresh and Krishna Bhagawan, the well-known artistes who could provide a healthy entertainment as heroes for this flick and made the film a hilarious flick right from the word start to finish.

There are two brothers called Bommana Brothers (Allari Naresh and Krishna Bhagawan) who were thieves by profession and their parents (Tanikella Bharani and Kovai Sarala) always encourage them to do thefts as they too practice the same. Once, these Bommana Brothers cheat a bank manager and escape with the money. Of course, they get caught by the police and escape from the police too with the help of their father. Then, they accidentally look at the photograph of two sisters and gather information about them. They are Mani (Farjana) and Siri (Rithima) and both of them are the daughters of Chandana Mohana Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao), the owner of popular cloth business chan.

Mani is faithful towards God, while Siri always extends her helping hand to orphans and challenged. Bommana Brothers change their attires and dupe both Mani and Siri and win their hearts. After a few twists, Bommana Brothers marry Chandana sisters. Later, the Bommana Brothers play some more tricks and bequeath the property of their father-in-law. However, Mohana Rao comes to know that they are cheats and turns a mad man. This irks Mani and Siri, who meet a professional killer to murder their husbands. What kind of circumstances Bommana Brothers face in the later stage? Did they realise their mistake? Did Chandana sisters excuse their husbands? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

Naresh and Krishna Bhagawan competed with each other in performance. Farzana and Rithima filled the glamour slot. Dharmavarapu, Jayaprakash Reddy and Jeeva excelled with their action filled with comedy. Kota Srinivasa Rao is in his usual best as father. Tanikella Bharani and Kovai Sarala added spice to the subject. Naresh and Farjana showed excellent ease in dance sequences.

When it comes to the work behind the screen, the choreography of some songs is extraordinary and cinematographer Adusumilli Vijaykumar captured the beauty of the hero and heroine and also the foreign locales well in his camera. Dialogues by Veligonda Srinivas are good in parts. There are several punch dialogues in the film. Being comedy heroes, Naresh and Krishna Bhagawan made many scenes entertaining. However, the director unnecessarily dragged certain scenes beyond the limit and tested the patience of the audiences. Comedy in a limit is enjoyable but when it was dragged, the audiences will have a feel of going out to have a cigarette and relax.

It is quite surprising to say, the audiences generally go out to relax during songs. But they sit tight during songs and some were seen going out when the comedy track is being dragged beyond limits. At the same time, several scenes are beyond logic and if you can ignore such silly drawbacks, the film is worth watching for the sake of entertainment. The director should have paid a little more attention whi
