'Charminar' Kannada cinema is partially autobiography of director R Chandru in his debut production has made it look partially charming with some good deeds fed to the present generation of youths.

Chandru charm in `Charminar' is more in the second half. The point stressed at the teenage that aim is important than falling love and sacrifice of the protagonist plus the speech at the old students Alumni in a village school are definitely new aspects touched by director of `Taj Mahal, Prem Kahani, Mylari and Ko Ko Koli Kothi' in this `Charminar'.

The main bottleneck of this film is the length and testing the patience in the first half. The infatuation in love is told in many Kannada films. The situations to suit the circumstances are at times obsolete. What is right on the part of the director need not be refreshing for the audience or the one who is watching films regularly. The expected turn of events is what makes one to take a long yawn.

On the way to his native village from USA the mindset of Mohana (Prem) travels back to school and college days. That is obvious because he is coming to Old students function at his native village Hemagiri. The early life and academic life of Mohana is a mixture that ultimately gives him a good platform. The life he chooses after innocent Radha (Meghana Gaonkar) telling that for her mother love is everything changes his attitudes completely.

Mohana is on growth in life but Radha being an intelligent do not get the required fillip in life because of her family struck with poverty. Added penury to her life she meets a dastardly accident with his mother in an auto rickshaw. She is reduced to loss of one leg in life.

Mohan on his return for old students meet in his village is looking for Radha in his school premises. Not able to find her in the important event he moves to her house to trace pathetic condition. What happens later is the good deed of Mohana.

For Nenapirali Prem this is an interesting role with variety in get up, delivery of dialogues and emotions. He was never before in such a lengthy role filled with lot of developments.

For Meghana Gaonkar the glam part is less and in giving perfect looks to the situation she has made a good attempt. Kumudha comes like a small flame and withdraws. Suresh Mangalore and Vidyamurthy are adequate.

Debutant Hari in music leaves lot of promise. He is good in three melodious tunes, the lyrics and singers also add up to the value of his music. KS Chandrasekhar is expert in giving a neat presentation from his camera.

Minus 15 to 20 minutes in the film the film `Charminar' will be more charming.

Score - 6/10
