China bans whatsapp

Chinese government has banned Whatsapp messaging service app earlier today. The move comes before a massive communist party meeting which has been scheduled early next month. Facebook has been trying to make its way back into China and this ban will definitely cause a setback to the Software giant.

The blocking of WhatsApp text messages shows that China’s censors may have developed specialized software to interfere with such messages, which rely on an encryption technology that is used by few services other than WhatsApp. As per various Chinese media reports, Whatsapp has been banned over mainland china and there are few places that still use the service.
