Chukkallo Chandrudu

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

In some sense, Chukkallo Chandrudu would seem to take off from where NVNV let off last year.

This is also a rites of passage film for an NRI in search for the right bride in India. If NVNV had a rural ambience, then CC is more youthful, colorful, yuppyish kind of movie. It is set in the urban scheme of things. And more importantly, it has more glamour as it has three top girls in the industry as the heroines.

Chukkallo Chandrudu is one of the most anticipated films of the new year. Directed by Shivakumar, said to be a protege of Manirathnam, CC marks his debut into the big league.

While bringing in the idioms that he learnt at Mani's school, Shivakumar has forged a new style of his own. The story is about an NRI youth and his experiences in `girl-hunting' in India. The buzz is that the climax of the film is explosive with an unexpected twist in the `tale'.

For Siddharth, this is home territory. He knows Shivakumar from his Manirathinam days (he also worked as Mani's assistant before becoming a hero in Boys). Further, as the film takes off from NVNV, it is easy for him.

Despite the many offers that came his way after NVNV, Siddharth has bided his time and chosen a script that he will be comfortable with. Siddharth's all-round involvement can be gauged by the fact that he has also sung a couple of songs in the film.

For the three ladies in the team ---Sada, Charmi, Saloni ---it must be interesting competition. There should be no dearth of glamour or glitz in CC.

Another major attraction of the movie would be the presence of old warhorses ANR and Waheeda Rehman. In fact it will be quite interesting to see the kind of roles that they have been assigned.

Chakri's youthful music has gone down well with the public. The songs have good flavor and fervor to them.

K S Ramachander has produced the film.

The movie will release in January.
