At the recent 2nd IFF Nagpur film festival, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was chosen for the title ‘HEART OF CINEMA’. This year the event specifically chose Tamil Cinema as its theme.

The message from the organizers said “ Our special team of selective jury, watched Tamil films and based on story content, treatment and success ration have chosen ‘Ilaignan’ for its story content, writing, craftsmanship with special mention of its dialogues very relevant to the period it portrays.”

It also said, “We would like to award you a citation from International Film Festival of Nagpur and recognition of your 75th film for its most powerful dialogues which has a unique blend of relevance and realism.

We have chosen the title HEART OF CINEMA for your unprecedented contribution to Tamil cinema and writing skill in particular for making Tamil Cinema deeply imprinted in the hearts of people all over the world, breaking the barriers of religion, region, language, caste and creed.”

The organizers have requested the CM to send his representative to collect the award on February 10. However, the Chief Minister has expressed his inability to attend the festival. Instead of him, Pa Vijay, director Suresh Krishna, Kushboo and producer S Martin would receive the award. Here is the letter from the chief patron in full.
