The government of Karnataka has precisely lived up the announcement it made. On Dr Rajakumar birth anniversary the Karnataka state film awards would be given away from 2016. It is happening from this year of Dr Rajakumar 89th birth anniversary.

At 6 pm at Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan in Bengaluru the award winners for 2016 Kannada films selected by Kavitha Lankesh and team is given away besides the prestigious three awards announced by Dr Jayanthi committee.

Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah preside over the awards presentation, Roshab Baig information minister, KJ George, Bengaluru Development Minister, Smt Padmavathi G, Bengaluru City Mayor, K Govindaraju MLC, chief guest PC Mohan Lok Sabha member, Bengaluru Central and others are on the dais at this gala awards evening.

The prestigious awards of SR Puttanna Kanagal award to top director KV Raju, Dr Rajakumar award to Smt Adavani Lakshmi Devi, Dr Vishnuvardhana award to poster designer K Chinnappa are followed by 20 plus awrds on this evening.
