Cobra

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

Megastar Mammootty had a really horrible year in 2011 with all of his films ending up as flops. The actor, who has recouped to success many times in the past, will be eagerly waiting for his 'Cobra'- his new movie with director Lal, to do the trick. Currently on sets, this movie written and directed by Lal will also have him play a lead role with Mammootty.

The movie will have Mammooty and Lal playing non-identical twins, who were born on a day when a terrorist attack happened at the hospital in which they were born. Their parents got killed and many believe that the kids got changed and as a result both of them don't share anything in common in their looks. While one is named Raja or Rajavembala (King Cobra), the other is known as  Kari or Karimoorkhan (Black Cobra) for their venomous acts as freestyle boxing stars. The two brothers originally from Kottayam share a good rapport and likes to base themselves in places with names starting with a 'Ko so that they keep intact their pet name of 'Kobra'. They had been in 'kuala Lumpur' where they got the title of 'Kobra' or 'Kuala lumpur brothers and now they are planning to live in places like Kozhikkodu or Coimbatore, which all starts with a 'Ko' in their names.

Raja and Kari have  decided long back that they will only  marry two sisters from a household as that would also make them `co-brothers'. And when they know about two such sisters in the name Sherly (Padmapriya) and Annie (Kaniha), the daughters of Johan Samuel, whose house they were planning to buy at Coimbatore, 'the 'Kobras' rush on for a marriage deal. The movie follows the rest of the happenings in a humorous tone.

This is the first time Lal is directing Mammootty for any of his movies, though they share great screen rapport in films like 'Thommanum Makkalum' and 'Best Actor'. The movie will also feature Salimkumar, Manianpillai Raju, lalu Alex, Jagathy Sreekumar, Ramu, Babu Antony and Bindhu Murali in the cast list.

The Cinematography of 'Kobra' is by Venu. The four songs in the lyrics of Santhosh Varma have been composed by Alex Paul. The art director is Prashath Madhav while Renjith Ambady is charge of makeup.

`Kobra' is produced by Anto Joseph under the banner of Emperor Cinema. The movie is now scheduled to be on theatres by the last week of March.
