Former Karimanagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar has filed a complaint against Nandamuri Balakrishna for casting his vote in the GHMC polls held on Feb 2. The former MP says that Balayya is not eligible for voting in Telangana as he is a registered voter in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

The contention is that one can't be a registered voter in more than one State. The fact that Balayya is the MLA of Hindupur, a constituency in AP, shows that he is a registered voter there. It may be noted that the confusion is seemingly because Balayya contested in the May 2014 elections when AP and Telangana were not yet bifurcated.

Whatever it is, Ponnam has stated in his complaint filed with the State Election Commission that the MLA should be disqualified.
