The Kerala High Court on Thursday refused to quash a dowry harassment complaint filed by Kavya Madhavan against her husband Nishal Chandra and in-laws.

Nishal Chandra, through his counsel, requested the court to quash the complaint filed by the actress that mediatory efforts were on to settle the issue and to file a joint divorce petition.

While disposing of Chandra’s petition, Justice N Sasidharan Nambiar however directed the police not to arrest him till November 30 and clarified that the efforts for mediation between the two parties could be continued in the case.

Kavya last year entered wedlock with Chandra, a Dubai-based banker. However, the actress very soon found herself on the brink of separation and divorce, alleging that her husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry.

Meanwhile, the actress is in her second innings in films now, doing movies one after the other. She did ‘Paappi Appacha’ and ‘Christian Brothers’. She has started work for ‘Bhakthajanangalude Shradhaykku’, directed by Priyanandanan and is also set to play the title role in ‘Gaddama’, a film directed by Kamal which is based on life of Malayalees working in the Gulf.
