A Mumbai businessman has donated a cow ambulance to Shree Ram Drishti Gaushala in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The owner of the guashala, who has been rescuing cows for more than a decade now, said that this vehicle would make it easy to load an injured cow into it, requiring only two men instead of eight people.

He said that cows that are deemed unproductive because they no longer produce milk are left to fend for themselves by their owners. They soon fall prey to disease or become road kill. A Tata 207 was upgraded with a hydraulic system to move a cage into which the cow will be loaded. The total cost, including purchase of the vehicle and the additional work, was Rs. 10 lakh, according to the garage owner converted the vehicle.
