Dadashaeb Phalke Academy remembers Founder of Rajshri Pictures

Rajshri Pictures received the Dadashaeb Phalke Academy for Late Shri Tarachand Barjatya just few days back. The award is titled the Phalke Kapatru Award for Four Generation Services as Film & TV Producers & Distributors & Exhibitors.

Incidentally today 10th May 2014 also marks the 100 years Birth Anniversary of Founder of Rajshri Pictures, Late Shri TarachandJi Barjatya - who has inspired three generations of his family and continues to do so. The Rajshri legacy is now being carried forward by Sooraj R. Barjatya, Rajjat A. Barjatya and Kavita K. Barjatya, Devansh Barjatya

In the pipeline is Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Pao’ starring Salman Khan and Sonam. The film is set to go on floor on June 22nd 2014.

For the records, Rajshri Pictures, the film distribution wing, was established on August 15,1947 at the dawn of India’s independence. Tarachand barjatya was instrumental in bringing prominent South Indian film producers into mainstream Hindi film production.
