Dalai Lama compliments Rajasekhar for his 'Gautham Buddha'

The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, the Buddhist spiritual leader, complimented producer K. Rajasekhar for his ‘Gautham Buddha’ that bought the real life biography of the Buddha on celluloid, during his recent visit to Bangalore. The film was a Special Jury Award Winner of the 2007 Nandi Awards. Directed by Allani Sridhar, Dr. K. Sivananda Murthy wrote the story and K. Rajasekhar produced the movie on Dharmapatha Creations, in Telugu and Hindi.

Further, felicitating the producer, State Minister Aanam RamNarayan Reddy said, “A message oriented movie like ‘Gautham Buddha’ will inspire the society and a Nandi Award is a feather in its cap,” during his speech in the annual day function of Andhra Music Academy.

Saying that the film has got a special recognition from critics in Northern states, producer K. Rajasekhar said, “I was indeed delighted to be complimented by the spiritual leader Dalai Lama. We are planning to release the film with English subtitles for the global audience.”

The title role of Gauthama Buddha was enacted by Sunil Sharma while Kausha, Parvathi Melton, Suman, Puneet Issar and Subbaraju formed the prominent part of the cast. Sashi Preetham composed music for the lyrics penned by Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry. Cinematography was done by Madhu Mahankali and editing was by K.Ravindrababu.
