According to a study published in the journal Nature, scientists at Stanford University have developed a device that can wirelessly charge gadgets that are moving within a close range. The idea is to develop this technology so that one day not only vehicles and cell phones, but also medical implants and more can be charged while on the move. Professor Shahui Fan was hopeful this technology “may untether robotics in manufacturing.”

The team has already successful transferred electricity to a moving LED bulb, involving only a one milliwatt charge. The team of scientists are working on increasing the amount of electricity so that it is sufficient for electric cars and other gadgets, and also on extending the range and improving efficiency of transfer.
